Stirling EnterpriseProposed retail development in Stirling. This outline application was for construction of a Class 1 convenience superstore extending to approximately 6,900 square metres gross with service area, car parking and landscaping. Hg Planning led the development team of architects (Opfer Logan Architects), engineers (Boreham Consulting Engineers) and retail consultants (Bryce Associates) and co-ordinated the application submission, on behalf of the client. The application was accompanied by a design statement, retail assessment and traffic assessment. After considerable negotiations the application was approved by Stirling Council and referred to the Scottish Ministers for final consideration before being approved.

Hall Construction
Proposed extension to opencast coal site near Wilsontown in South Lanarkshire. The application was to extend the working life of the 150 hectare opencast coal site for a further five years and to extract a further 220,000 tonnes of coal from the site.
Hg Planning led the development team, comprising RPS, and co-ordinated the submission of the application including the Environmental Statement. The application was approved by South Lanarkshire Council and referred to the Scottish Ministers for final consideration before the submission was approved. |

CRE Ltd
Proposed windfarm at Chapelton. The application was for the erection of three 85m high wind turbines near Chapelton, by East Kilbride. The turbines will have a total output of 3.9mw. Hg Planning led the development team which included architects (Allan McEwan Architects) and landscape architects (Brindley Associates Ltd), in the preparation of the environmental statement and application submission. The proposal is currently the subject of a planning appeal and is with the DPEA for consideration.
Scottish Government
Satellite dishes legislative research. The Scottish Government was seeking to update the permitted development rights with respect to satellite dishes and the company played a lead role in preparing an options paper for its consideration. This included researching on legislation, consultation with local authorities and the industry, organising and running a seminar on the research findings, and the submission of a detailed paper with recommendations to the Scottish Government.
Architecture and Design Scotland
Policy advice. A&DS sought guidance and advice regarding the recent changes in planning legislation and, in particular, how such changes might impact on their work and responsibilities. Several policy papers were prepared and submitted to A&DS with appropriate recommendations.
